Now that I have carved out a new location for my blog, it seems a bit of explanation is in order.
Why change blog platforms? Well, my reasons for this are largely spelled out in my first post, http://leoninemusings.blogspot.com/2011/08/new-digs-for-leonine-musings.html. I want a platform that people use, that people are familiar with, and that can I hope can connect me with other people and other blogs more easily.
Why lions/Why "Leonine Musings?" I like lions. I have an affinity for them. And no, astrologically I'm a Virgo, not a Leo (and don't go telling me about the "new zodiac"--that only applies to people being born post-adjustment, and I don't put stock in that sort of thing anyway). Lions are powerful, and they can be lazy. They're amorous, and they can be fickle. There's a nobility and regal air about them without their having to try to put it there. They are fiercely protective, and they can be ill-tempered. So yeah. Plus, in New Warrior circles, my animal name is Lion. That's not really some magical totem spirit, but it is a label and an illustration that I can hang on a aspect of myself and look to it as a guide. The best and the worst of me can be embodied in my leonine qualities. So it fits, I think. And this blog contains my musings, hence the name.
Why Leandrosanax? The email address I created for use with this blog comes from two ancient Greek words (one of which is itself a compound): "leandros," or "lion-like man" from "leo" (lion) and "andros" (man), and "anax," or "high king." I am debating switching my primary email to this address. I've long disliked what I chose as my Yahoo email account name. It's too long and has that clumsy underscore character, it gives away far too much personal information about me (my birth date), and it looks as though I'm being salacious simply because I was born in the year that preceded 1970. ;-) So the day may soon come when your address book entry for doug_powers9869@yahoo.com might need to get replaced with leandrosanax@gmail.com. But that day is not yet. I have a lot of stuff stored in and connected to that Yahoo address. That's why I haven't ditched it sooner. I'll keep you posted.
Anyway, that I hope explains some of what's going on with this blog. Enjoy!
