ARCHIVE: Mommy, Why Did That Atheist Man Just Wish Me Merry Christmas?

*** This entry was originally posted to LiveJournal December 24, 2007 ***

Well, I do celebrate Christmas. It's just that for me, it's not a religious holiday. That does not, however, mean that it isn't sacred. For me it's about love and connection and appreciation of the people close to me. There's really nothing more sacred to me than that. So even as a non-Christian I'm quite fond of Christmas.

So if, for you, Christmas is the celebration of the birth of your god on earth then may you have a blessed and merry Christmas.

If, for you (as for me), Christmas is a secular holiday then may you have a joyful and merry Christmas.

If, for you, Christmas isn't a holiday at all then may you simply have a day that's filled with love and joy and that finds you surrounded by those you love.

In short, may everyone have a wondrous day tomorrow.

I'm off to do the Dian Fossey thing again tonight (see my blog from last year).
